Work Experience values diversity and promotes equality |

Whether
you are a very small company or a large multinational, a placement in
your business can provide a valuable learning opportunity for the student.
It
can also benefit your business in a number of ways:
- Your company becomes
known by teachers, students and parents;
- Students can provide
your company and employees with a new perspective of their work;
- It can present
staff development opportunities for those supervising the student;
- Young people are
better prepared for the local job market
- It can provide
recruitment opportunities for your company
Most work experience is two
weeks long but you may also be interested in providing an extended
work placement. This involves the student combining work experience
and school over a longer period. We
also provide work placements for Enfield
Training Services - an organisation that offers modern apprenticeships
in Business Administration and Hairdressing.
Please scroll down
to find information to help you if you are already providing placements,
and if for you are thinking of offering a placement.
We always need new
work placements so please get
in touch if you would like us to send you more information or if you

What
hours should students work on work experience?
The number of
hours worked is generally for agreement by employer, school, parents
and students. Unless there are strong reasons to the contrary it
is recommended that students should not be asked to work more than
a standard eight hour day. The Working Time Regulations apply to
work experience students.
|
|
Can
I pay the student?
No. Work experience
is part of students' education and employers should make no payment
for work performed whether to the students, the school or LEA. Help
towards the cost of meals or transport is provided sometimes either
by schools, local education authorities or employers. Where help
is likely to be needed it should be considered and resolved before
the placement begins.
